Unlucky on Drawing for 900-20 or 410-21 elk permit?

Here is what you can do!

Are you one of the 589 resident hunters that did not draw a 900-20 or 410-21 archery elk permit, 1st Choice in 2019? This trend will only get worse if we don’t make a change. Most of us feel we just had to accept the permit system as it is, but that isn’t the case. What can you do? Since, the FWP are starting their biennial season setting for the next 2 years, the FWP can make recommendations to change the permit structure. The Department doesn’t know we’re dissatisfied with the permit system unless we voice our opinion, and now is the time to start letting our voice be heard.

A few suggestions to fix the 900-20/410-21 permits.

1. Return all (21) 900-20 HDs to a general draw archery district, as per the FWP Adopted Elk Management Plan.
2. Increase quota and go to 1st and Only Choice. (for 900-20 and 410-21)
3. Set separate quotas for each HD 1st and Only Choice. (for 900-20 and 410-21) Or even suggest something of your own.

Reason for a need to change the permit system.

1. Resident hunters are now not being able to hunt where they planned.
2. Elk numbers are at an all time high, so why limit opportunity?
3. Stats show that many resident hunters receive a 900-20 permit yet don’t hunt, taking away the permit from others that do want to hunt.
